We understand some of you are eager to find out more about weight management medications. In our area, these medications are only available through a local community weight management service for a small number of people with the highest clinical need.
Our GP practice cannot prescribe weight management medicines to you directly.
Please check this criteria carefully before contacting us to request an appointment to discuss a referral. This helps us ensure appointments are available for all our patients' health needs.
To be considered for a referral for the weight management medications, you must meet strict national criteria, including a very high BMI and multiple, specific health conditions.
If you would like to discuss a referral to the community weight management service, please (Information from practice on how to book an appointment to discuss a referral). Please note that a referral to the weight management service does not automatically
mean you will be prescribed medication to help you lose weight, as people with the highest clinical need for these drugs are being prioritised.
